Over three days you'll be emersed in bushcraft and Primitive living in the vast Forest. Home to Red deer and a host of British woodland wildlife.
Set up a simple camp within the beautiful forest and embark on a bushcarft journey appying an Aborigional breth of knowlege .
Like all of our courses this one is fully caterd for and you have the opotunity to stay in Tipi lodge during the experiance or construct your own temporary natural shelter - We will be engaging in several primitive skills workshops including ancient fires, natural crafts, foraging, tracking and natural navigation.
You will have the freedom, to experement and explore while learing side by side with like minded indivisuals.
WHAT’S COVERED:
- Bushcraft and Britians wildlife - Primitive fires & ancient technology explored detailed over campfire chats
- Primitive fire craft - A workshop
- Fire safety and the code of conduct
- Setting up a simple camp - the sustainability around bushcraft and its impact on nature & leave no trace
- A guided exploration of the forest - wild foods, natural matirials for crafts, foraging for personal use and resin
- Foraging sustainably - Foraging practices and the law - including the Country side code
- Tracking - reading ground sign
- Reading the landscape and identifying changes in the surroundings
- Track and evidence - being able to recognise and record tracks of wildlife with a view to follow trail successfully
- Natural navigation in a forest being able to apply cardinal rules in nature to aid navigation
- Water sources - using a water source for everyday use
- An introduction to flint knapping
- Water filtration and hot shower from stream source
- Bread making in Dutch oven - exploring the use and mananment of a range of fires
- Campfire cooking - the wild kitchen, tips and tricks
- Drying, smoking and preserving foods
- Natural shelter building - the importance of shelter
- The A frame Lean to and wick up
- (A field archery shoot)
- Natural clay pottery - mesolithic style
- Clay candle making - using pine pitch
- Woodcraft - wood selection, craving safety and carving techniques. Finnish the workshop with a spoon to take away.
- Small group size with a maximum of 10 guests to ensure we create a subtle atmosphere in the woods, and you get a very high interaction time with the instructor.
- A full kit list is given out on booking, but you won't need much more than a sleeping bag and warm clothing.
- This course is fully catered starting with the evening meal on the Friday, and finishing with lunch on Sunday. Please inform us of any dietary requirements, we're happy to cater to any needs.
- Due the involved nature of this course, we don't feel its suitable to under 16 year olds (please ask if you have any questions)
- Under 18's must be accompanied by a participating adult
