The great ridge of the Peak District

If you’ve come across the concept of Animism then you’ll recognise that everything in the natural world has a entity, a living being that has its own meaning in the landscape which in turn is a place of great importance -

Mam tor is known locally as the Mother Hill, stretching out before her shale face is the Hope valley in which human beings have inhabited as far back as the early Iorn age

During the time of the Roman invasion of these islands the great ridge that stretches to Loose hill (Another folklore story entirely) was the frontier of the Roman Empire, upon Mam tor a Celtic community defied the nearby Roman Navio fort for over 50 years

Coming to a place like this, it’s important to connect to the nature, remembering the significance of the landscape around us
